Introduction
I’m not a politician. I’m a dad, a concerned parent, and a Joshua Tree neighbor.
Our neighborhood schools are at risk of closing. I’m stepping up to help keep them open and make sure our community has a seat at the table.
That’s why I’m running for the Morongo Unified School District School Board, Area 5.
The reason
Why I’m Running
Our schools are more than buildings. They are where our children learn, where families meet one another, and where communities are built.
Decisions about their future should not be made without the families and communities most affected by them having a strong voice in the room.
I believe our neighborhood schools are worth fighting for.
I want to bring the perspective of a parent to the School Board, ask hard questions, listen to our teachers and families, understand the data behind the decisions we face, and make sure every reasonable alternative is explored before a neighborhood school is closed.

Keep Our Schools Open
School closure should be a last resort, not an easy solution to difficult problems. I will advocate for keeping our neighborhood schools open and strong wherever reasonably possible.

Give Parents a Seat at the Table
Families deserve meaningful involvement in decisions that fundamentally affect their children and communities. I want those voices heard early—not after decisions have already been made.

Put Students First
Every decision should begin with a simple question: What is best for our kids? That means strong classrooms, supported teachers and staff, responsible use of district resources, and opportunities for every student to succeed.

Listen, Learn, and Be Accountable
I won’t pretend to arrive with every answer. I will do the work, ask questions, listen to people who know our schools best, and be transparent about how and why I make decisions.

About Juan Carlos
I’m a Joshua Tree parent, technology and product leader, and longtime believer in community service.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked to bring people together around difficult problems and turn ideas into action. I founded a nonprofit, have organized grassroots community efforts, mentored young professionals, and coached my daughter’s soccer team.
I’m a parent who cares deeply about the community my children are growing up in.
I didn’t expect to run for School Board. When it became clear that our community needed someone willing to step forward and represent us, I raised my hand.
Now we have an opportunity to earn that seat at the table.
